SoccerTodayNews.Blogspot.Com - Arsene Wenger gave an explanation for his decision not to buy Anthony Martial. Besides being considered the player is a winger, Wenger thought that AS Monaco will not release 19-year-old teenager.
Shortly after Manchester United completed the transfer of expensive Martial, Wenger called if he had actually been watching these players since he was little. Arsenal manager chose not to buy Martial because it was considered as a winger, while the Gunners already have a player with a similar position as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis Sanchez and Joel Campbell.
In the first four games as penggawa MU, Martial has shown that he is a forward. Four goals that have been scored so confirmation on it.
Touched reporter commentary related to some time ago, Wenger persist in his opinion that Martial is winger. Wenger also did not expect Martial will move to Manchester United because Monaco had said it will not release the French international players.
"He is more often played as a winger in his career and he (new) plays as a striker at the end of last season," said Wenger reiterated the statement.
"But Monaco has always made the statement that the two players will not be released, Martial and (Layvin) Kurzawa, so I think Monaco will last with the statement. But in the end both players move," he added in a news conference as reported by FourFourTwo.
Regardless of the debate about the position, Wenger did not deny that he was impressed with the performances Martial at the beginning of the season. Continue scoring in the first weeks called Wenger's debut as a special achievement.
"It was surprising because sometimes started to be very difficult. He has to keep it and it will be difficult for him. You have to understand if he starts rarely scored, because he has made a lot of people put high expectations of him," said Wenger.
